A bathroom accessory is anything that is in a bathroom that is used for décor or for a function. One thing that is a common problem in many bathrooms in homes is the lack of storage for these accessories. You simply must have some things ready for when they are needed in this room of the home. Yet, if there is no place to put them, it may seem quite awkward. Many of the current bathroom designs do not provide for much storage. So, what should be done?
To create storage in a bathroom, there are several things that you can do. One common problem is that many individuals are replacing vanities with pedestal type sinks. The vanities traditionally had a wide amount of storage on them. This allowed them to be easily used for storage of all bathroom accessories. Some came with a cabinet others with drawers. In any case, replacing them with a pedestal causes a lack of storage. One option here is to use a separate storage unit within the bathroom.
If the bathroom is large enough, a small dresser like structure can be added to it to store towels and other bathroom accessories. In fact, there are many of these styles of storage units that are ideal for the bathroom as they look as if they could be a vanity. If this does not seem to please or fit, there are other solutions. A cabinet can often be built into the wall of a bathroom between two studs by simply removing the drywall. There would need to be enough room behind the wall to do this. This would allow for additional space for the use of whatever is needed and keep the bathroom clear.
If this too does not work for the homeowner, consider adding an over the toilet storage unit. These stand or are mounted over the top of the toilet, out of the way, and have shelves or enclosures. They can be used for both decoration as well as usefulness. They come in many of the necessary colors and styles. They are ideal for keeping things out of sight as well as out of the way. Over the vanity or over the sink options are also available to house all of the necessary elements. These can be made deeper as they are fit.
When there are bathroom accessories with no place to go, creating storage units within the bathroom to easily house them can be a challenge. Sometimes simply adding some shelves to the room can help.
